Werner’s most famous design was his earliest: the iconic candle stick holder from the 60’s. Designed for and produced by Nagel. Originally produced in brass recuperated from bullet cases from the war and later in other metals.
This modular design allows unlimited creativity with a limited number of variations of the modules. From one tripod holding candles to an endless number of modules building even a wall or mountain. Very similar to the concept of Lego.
Few people are aware that he also designed a circular version of the candle stick holder in the same modular philosophy and was asked by the manufacturing company to also design kitchen ware such as tea pots. We are lucky to have a number of most versions exhibited.
For the exhibition we have cleaned up the items and set them up the way Werner had them on display in his house.
